Just to recap, here's the moves made in the past 24 hours or so:
The Bulls signed Ben Wallace (and acquired P.J. Brown and one year of his contract for Tyson Chandler's enormously long/overpriced deal)
The Hornets went insane and signed Peja Stojakovic, Bobby Jackson, and traded for Tyson Chandler.
The Lakers signed Vlad Radmanovic.
The Clippers signed Tim Thomas.
The Hawks signed Speedy Claxton.
Like I said...a whole new NBA. And the free agent signing period hasn't even officially began.
Playing without Lebron James and Larry Hughes the Cleveland Cavaliers got there 50th win with a 100-99 win at home over the Atlanta Hawks. Flip Murray led the Cavaliers with 19 points who reached the 50th win plateau for only the fourth time in franchise history. The Cavaliers almost... Link
The ASSOCIATED PRESS on ESPN.com reports that the Washington Wizards placed forward Caron Butler on the inactive list with a right thumb sprain before their Friday night game against the Atlanta Hawks.... Link
Here is my mock draft, usually when a player does well in the tournament, their stock goes up in the draft. Teams are gonna pass on Sheldon Williams, due to poor tournament performance. He’ll be the next Elton Brand and will help that Hornets go to the playoffs... Link
It's still pretty early to tell, but if the Lakers continue giving up games like last night's Celtics fiasco and last week's Hawks debacle, the playoff lighthouse that has been guiding the hopes of Lakers fans everywhere will slowly extinguish. Think about it, if we beat these two teams... Link
Well I’m glad the NBA (David Stern) came to its senses and invited Gilbert Arenas to play in Houston this weekend after all. Too bad Gil had to go and finish the first half of the season with a 4-for-22 effort and 6 turnovers at Dallas. Ouch.So we have... Link
Ben Gordon scored 10 of his 23 points in the final 2:28 as the Chicago Bulls held off a strong rally and beat the Atlanta Hawks 111-99 Saturday night to match a season best with their fourth straight win.... Link
It might not -- yet -- have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NBA and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding... Link
"Backup point guard Speedy Claxton is having a fabulous January, averaging five more points and two more assists than he did last month," writes John Reid of The New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE. "Since Jan. 2, Claxton has averaged 16.6 points and 5.6 assists in five games. Claxton played his best... Link
Jamal Crawford scored 23 points off the bench as the New York Knicks defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 105-94, at Madison Square Garden to give Larry Brown his 1,000th win as a head coach in the NBA.... Link
I promise to come back full force on Monday. If not, I'll give you your money back. I'm not yet ready to pronounce the Kings as back - 3 out of 4 is cool and all, but it was the Clippers twice and Boston. And we're still five games... Link
Allen Iverson scored 53 points, the fifth-highest total of his career, but Joe Johnson had 24 to lead the Atlanta Hawks over the Philadelphia 76ers 111-108 on Friday night. Zaza Pachulia added 23 points, including the go-ahead free throws, and Al Harrington scored 22 for Atlanta, which won for... Link
Recently some FreeDarko readers have pointed out that we haven’t devoted many words lately to actually covering this NBA season. While it may be true that our last 37 posts have focused on profiling individual players (“profiles in courage” according to Shoals), I hardly think we can be blamed... Link
The New York Daily News' Frank Isola surveys the wreckage that is the New York Knicks following losses to Atlanta and Indy, while reviewing GM Isiah Thomas' Friday telephone chat with Mike Francesca. The days of blaming Scott Layden for everything from Shandon Anderson to the cost of concession-stand... Link
Warning: Prolonged exposure to bullet points may cause harm to expectant mothers and those with epilepsy. First off: Carnival of the NBA hit the big #21 at YAYSports. To celebrate it's in two parts. Hopefully there will be less vomit involved than my own 21st. Here's yet another... Link
I used to work with this kid Alan who rocked those Bike gym teacher shorts and Rec Specs when he hooped, but despite his (intentional?) style deficiencies, he could actually play a little. If El Huracan forced me to assign him an NBA play-alike, I would have to go... Link
Chicago Kirk Hinrich’s a tough dude. After leaving the season opener with an ankle injury and being questionable the next night, he came out and went for 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting with 3 3s. After being knocked out with a concussion against Dallas, he did miss a game,... Link
Indiana forward Ron Artest sat out the Pacers' game against Washington on Thursday night because of a sore right wrist. Artest, one of the NBA's top defensive players, was hurt in a Thanksgiving night victory over Cleveland when LeBron James fouled him hard. Artest missed the next game, a... Link
Two things have waken me up to the overall crappiness of the NBA this season. The first is the Carnival of the NBA #20, written by the fantastic Paul at Attack of the Supersonics. It's amazing how many bloggers are pissed off with their team. The second thing that... Link
Joe Johnson scored 23 points against his former team, but his Atlanta Hawks were overwhelmed, 112-94, by the Phoenix Suns, who rolled to their sixth straight win Sunday behind a balanced effort.... Link
