Thought I’d throw up a special weekend column, since I’m not sure I’ll have one for tomorrow since it’s a holiday and all. Before we get into the situations to pay attention to, I thought we should check in on some of the centers who recently won starting jobs... Link
I promise to come back full force on Monday. If not, I'll give you your money back. I'm not yet ready to pronounce the Kings as back - 3 out of 4 is cool and all, but it was the Clippers twice and Boston. And we're still five games... Link
Brad Miller had 20 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds to lead a balanced attack, as the Sacramento Kings defeated the New Jersey Nets, 114-105, at ARCO Arena.... Link
The Nets franchise is fascinating. I wholeheartedly support its move to Brooklyn - little could do more for the NBA than sticking a team in Brooklyn. One thing that could? It involves a parade and J Street. Count me among those who pray to the basketball gods that Carter,... Link
Ray Allen scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half, and used a fortunate slap from teammate Danny Fortson in the third period to rally the Seattle SuperSonics to their third straight win, 106-104 over Sacramento on Sunday night. Sacramento center Brad Miller missed two free throws... Link
Brad Miller brought his motor home to training camp. How can you tell Larry Hughes is laid back? He's from the midwest. A long, hard look at the Sonic off-season with... optimism. Manu Ginobili's off-season. Sports Law Blog rips...... Link

Is it ever really too early to do a mock draft? Absolutely not. Especially with training camp starting next week, and the season only about a month away. So what we’re going to do is spend this week going through a mini-mock draft. Today we’ll do rounds one and... Link
The stat-tastic HoopsAnalyst is rounding up the best trades of all-time for each team in the league. Harlan Schreiber has finished up three-quarters of the teams, and he seems to be using the old divisions to separate the analyses. Here's the Midwest Division, the Central Division and the Atlantic... Link
Well, apparently Vegas is on the Kings' side, as they've got Sac as a 5.5 favorite for Friday's tilt. After removing the egg from my face after a disastrous pick in game 2, I'm going to go with the Sonics to cover in game 3. Fact is, the Kings... Link
For the first time since I can remember, Selection Sunday came and went and I really couldn’t have cared less. Rather than watching the Big Ten or ACC Finals, I was busy peeking in on Dallas/Minnesota and Houston/Sacramento. I’m not sure what that says about me, but keep this... Link
Boy, this was a rough weekend. There were tons of little injuries and flare-ups, and huge warning signs all over the place. One league of mine, which generally sees about 5 or 6 moves in a weekend, had 13 separate waiver wire transactions involving 22 players on Saturday and... Link
Ah, the frustrations of fantasy basketball. Two players who I ve been begging to get more playing time finally get put into situations where they are going to see that time and I miss out on both of them. Bah. Lots and lots of post-deadline PG situations to look... Link
Another team with a high profile player asking to be traded. At least this time, the team didn t listen, but it s just before the trade deadline so nothing is set in stone just yet. p://www.nba.com/playerfile/predrag_stojakovic/index.html?nav=page">Peja Stojakovic was quite upset that his friend and team leader Vlade Divac... One of the statistics I have been looking at a lot lately has been the on court off court defensive stats at the 82 games site. Many believe figuring out who are good defenders and who are not is almost impossible. I think its difficult, but not impossible. I... Link
Sacramento guard Cuttino Mobley was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for his protest after referees did not call goaltending on his last-minute shot during a loss to Dallas. Mobley had to be restrained from going after the officials by teammate Brad Miller on Friday night. Stu Jackson,... Link
As you can imagine with 2 of the highest scoring offenses in the league meeting up, the action can get fast and hairy. These 2 teams didn't really disappoint, providing plenty of offense. Like good teams do, the Kings hung around all game and then got it done late.... Link
Sports - Kings trade Christie to Magic for guard Mobley, forward Bradley - sacbee.com: "Christie, a 13-year veteran, was in his fifth season with the Kings, having started all 31 games and averaging 7.3 points, 4.9 assists and four rebounds. He had been slowed a bit at times this... Link
Looking for positives as the Lakers head into Sacramento for the second game of a tough road trip, I came back to this: The Lakers are worth more than the Kings. According to Forbes magazine , the Lakers are the most valuable franchise in the NBA, worth $510 million.... Link
Well, those looking for a return of the run game, weren't disappointed with this first half. The uptempo started right off the tip, with Paul Pierce going in for a quick score and we didn't slow down much after that. At the 7:37 mark in the 1st, it was... Link

Over the weekend, the pieces of the Laker puzzle began to take shape...on Friday, Phil Jackson confirmed what many suspected, that he would not return to the team for 2004-2005. The Lakers quickly reacted--contacting Rudy Tomjanovich about the newly-vacated head coach position. But the BIG, backboard-shattering news was that Shaquille O'Neal was demanding a trade, which, if consumated, would be certain to be one of, if not the biggest trade in NBA history. Who could/would take Shaq's $27 mil salary, while also giving the Lakers enough in return? ESPN's Chad Ford and David Aldridge have some possible scenarios....here are a few of the more intriguing and/or plausible:
SCENARIO 1:
DALLAS DIESEL -- Shaq goes to Dallas for Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Walker
SCENARIO 2:
SHAQRAMENTO -- Shaq to the Kings for Chris Webber, Brad Miller, Bobby Jackson, and Anthony Peeler
SCENARIO 3:
THE BIG HOOSIER -- Shaq & Derek Fisher to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal, Al Harrington, Austin Croshere and Scot Pollard
SCENARIO 4:
THE WEST REUNION -- Shaq to Memphis for Pau Gasol, Bonzi Wells (or James Posey), Lorenzen Wright and Bo Outlaw
SCENARIO 5:
THE DADDY AND THE KID -- Shaq & Luke Walton to Cleveland for Carlos Boozer, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Tony Battie, Kedrick Brown, DeSagana Diop and Ira Newble
SCENARIO 6:
THE DADDY AND THE KIDD -- Shaq to New Jersey for Kenyon Martin, Kerry Kittles, and Rodney Rogers
SCENARIO 7:
THE JAILBLAZER ALTERNATIVE -- Shaq to Portland for some combo of Zach Randolph or Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Derek Anderson or Damon Stoudamire, Theo Ratliff or Dale Davis, and a draft pick
