Jason Reid of THE LOS ANGELES TIMES writes, "Chris Wilcox reminisced with friends Friday night before the Seattle SuperSonics and Clippers played at KeyArena. The SuperSonics and Clippers met for the first time since a Feb. 14 deal brought Wilcox the Clippers' first-round selection in 2002 to... Link

Well I’m glad the NBA (David Stern) came to its senses and invited Gilbert Arenas to play in Houston this weekend after all. Too bad Gil had to go and finish the first half of the season with a 4-for-22 effort and 6 turnovers at Dallas. Ouch.So we have... Link

Joining the action with 1:34 left in the first and the score tied at 23. Somehow, this is the only NBA game on tonight. Which is, of course, the only reason I'm watching it. Heck, it was either this or the end of "Superman II." And I know what... Link

While Donald Sterling may be the worst owner in the game, Elgin Baylor has remarkably learned how to score quality talent at competitive prices over the years, and now the Clips find themselves poised to make the playoffs in 2005-2006 for the first time in over a decade.
Ok, now before I go to crazy, I will say that all of this is contingent on the resigning of Bobby Simmons. Easily the most underrated player in the NBA last season, Simmons is a quality contributor and excellent defender. With he, Corey Maggette, and Elton Brand, the Clips have a lot to build around.
Add to the mix the glut of long, big bodies the Clippers have (Chris Kaman, Chris Wilcox, Mikki Moore, Rebraca) and the Clips have an intriguing mix of players who, with a couple key veteran adds and one quality lottery pick, could definitely knock on the door of the ultra-competitive Western Conference playoffs. Heck, in the East, this team could be looking at home court in the first round of the playoffs.
Which brings us to another suggestion....Mr. Sterling, maybe you should move the team to the East coast, where they could compete right away.
Chris Wilcox made it clear Wednesday that if the Clippers don't plan to give him more playing time he'd rather they send him elsewhere before today's noon trade deadline. "Like I told them, I just want to get out on...... Link
ESPN.com's Chad Ford (aka "Nothing I Write Ever Comes True, But, Hey, When Did That Ever Stop Anyone?") is reporting the Sonics are looking to deal Radman with the deadline approaching. Ok, I know the Lakers soap opera does bear some resemblences to an E! True Hollywood Story, but why have so many NBA beatwriters turned into Ted Casablanca in the process? These guys get their hands on way too little gossip, apparently. So when they have something as ripe for speculation as the Kobe saga, they must lose their bearings. I mean, after all, how else could you explain these quotes from Chad Ford's latest column, in which he actually says Kobe should choose the Clippers (aka the worst team in NBA history) and Donald Sterling (aka the worst owner in sports) and LESS money over the Lakers and the proven winning ways of Dr. Jerry Buss & Co.:
Chris Kaman is one of the best young big men in the game.
Marko Jaric and Chris Wilcox are formidable pieces off the bench.
I'll give him Chris Wilcox as a "formidable piece" I guess, but c'mon here. Marko Jaric--formidable? Maybe in the Rookie Game, but in a hyper-competitive West? Marko Jaric vs. Tony Parker....is he still going to look very 'formidable'? And don't even get me started about the Kaman thing; yes, he shows tremendous potential, after one season. But more than any of the top 2 or 3 big men in ANY draft? Name one NBA draft that doesn't have a couple Chris Kamans in it.
We here at HOOPLOG look forward to Kobe's signing, wherever it may be, so we can go back to NBA writing and Hollywood gossip being featured in SEPARATE sections of the newspaper.
