We love Sam Cassell, and it's not just because he's unafraid to slip in a "Coming to America" reference while addressing 19,000 people. The guy's a winner. (A winner who closed his thank-you address to the Staples Center fans before the final regular-season game by saying "Sexual Chocolate!") In... Link
It's definitely bad news Corey Maggette now knows the Clips were prepared to airlift him to Indiana. An LA source says he's not taking the news well....... Link
I promise to come back full force on Monday. If not, I'll give you your money back. I'm not yet ready to pronounce the Kings as back - 3 out of 4 is cool and all, but it was the Clippers twice and Boston. And we're still five games... Link
Three Situations to Pay Attention To (Because Five Just Makes This Column Too Damn Long) Denver Earl Watson was one of my favorite guys to write about when doing this column last year. The Memphis rotation prevented him from having consistent fantasy value, but whenever Jason Williams was out,... Link
Victory That was pleasantly surprising. Had I known Maggette was going to be out (I hadn’t heard anything at all about this until game time, it was weird), my prediction probably would’ve been slightly different. As it turns out, Brand and Kaman (I was impressed with his ball handling... Link
Joining the action with 1:34 left in the first and the score tied at 23. Somehow, this is the only NBA game on tonight. Which is, of course, the only reason I'm watching it. Heck, it was either this or the end of "Superman II." And I know what... Link
Here comes the first weekend of regular season basketball action in … well … in a long time. And here at FBB we couldn’t be more excited. 25 games, three days, and we’ll start to see some separation in the fantasy basketball standings. Coming out of the gate strong... Link
1 to 30 31. Chauncey Billups – We love PGs here at FBB, and they don’t come more rock solid than this one. 32. Jason Terry – No, seriously, we love PGs, especially ones who were able to finish 30th on the player rater while only getting 30 mpg.... Link
It’s nearly impossible to define the “typical” small forward. Some are long-range bombers, some excel at crashing the boards. Others are defensive whizzes. Taken early, your small forward will determine how some of your late picks turn out. Taken late, a small forward can really fill a need –... Link
(For rounds one, two and three, just scroll down) Players already on the team are in parentheses. Team A: Jamaal Magloire (J. Terry, R. Allen, P. Stojakovic, K. Garnett)Team B: Rasheed Wallace (E. Okafor, R. Artest, S. O’Neal, L. James)Team C: Corey Maggette (A. Iguodala, B. Davis, Y. Ming,... Link
From Sam Amico: Three sources told me in the last two days that the Clips have approached Boston about the availibility of Paul Pierce. That's all they said. I'll have a story in the morning. Here is the story. If this is the case, I hope that they would now... Link
Short conversation The Clippers may or not have offered Corey Maggette to the Celtics -- one team official said it never happened -- but we do know this much: The Celtics were interested in a certain Clipper named Shaun Livingston....... Link
As we work our way through the NBA Finals, the one player that has spurred (get it?) the most debate between DM and myself is that crazy Argentinean, Emmanuel Ginobili. DM claims that Ginobili has established himself as one of the top players in the game over the course... Link
[If you missed Episode I click here.David Crockett is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of South Carolina, and can be reached at dcrockett17@yahoo.com.]I the previous Episode I identified the backcourt as the team's highest priority heading into the off-season. Don't shoot the messenger, just passing this along (LA Times): Ainge is expected to offer Walker, a free agent, something like $7 million a year and doesn't care if he leaves. However, starting a youth movement with no immediate title prospects, insiders say the organization is also open to... Link

While Donald Sterling may be the worst owner in the game, Elgin Baylor has remarkably learned how to score quality talent at competitive prices over the years, and now the Clips find themselves poised to make the playoffs in 2005-2006 for the first time in over a decade.
Ok, now before I go to crazy, I will say that all of this is contingent on the resigning of Bobby Simmons. Easily the most underrated player in the NBA last season, Simmons is a quality contributor and excellent defender. With he, Corey Maggette, and Elton Brand, the Clips have a lot to build around.
Add to the mix the glut of long, big bodies the Clippers have (Chris Kaman, Chris Wilcox, Mikki Moore, Rebraca) and the Clips have an intriguing mix of players who, with a couple key veteran adds and one quality lottery pick, could definitely knock on the door of the ultra-competitive Western Conference playoffs. Heck, in the East, this team could be looking at home court in the first round of the playoffs.
Which brings us to another suggestion....Mr. Sterling, maybe you should move the team to the East coast, where they could compete right away.
Bobby Simmons, who is expected to be introduced Thursday as the NBA's most improved player, is the latest Clipper eligible to jump ship. But unlike Elton Brand and Corey Maggette two summers ago and Quentin Richardson last summer, he'll be...... Link

I apologize for my last "whatever it was - it wasn't a column" thing I posted earlier today. In many aspects of life, inaction is better than doing something half-assed. And make no mistake, I would have spent another hour on last night's "post" to bring it up to... Link
