Sure the Warriors lost, but this isn't a loss I mind. A one point overtime loss on the road without JRich is nothing to be ashamed about. For the most part they played tough. Are they headed to the playoffs? Well that's another story. Boxscore "What I have to... Link
Tis the season to see folly. And so goes the current Sonics season. The Sonics dropped another game last night–that they typically won last season–when Baron Davis’ prayer from somewhere near Aurora Avenue barely ruffled the net as it went through the hoop giving the Warriors their 11th win... Link
Chicago Kirk Hinrich’s a tough dude. After leaving the season opener with an ankle injury and being questionable the next night, he came out and went for 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting with 3 3s. After being knocked out with a concussion against Dallas, he did miss a game,... Link
Continuing our string of great athlete run-ins -- and by the way, just because the book contest is over doesn't mean we still don't want your stories; send yours to tips@deadspin.com -- is this tale from "Dan from New York." It's too long to fit in one little post... Link
Training camp battles are getting rough. Ike Diogu broke his finger in an extra practice session for the rookies. Diogu was attended to while the drill continued. His ring finger was taped to his pinkie and he continued playing. Diogu said he was fine afterward.During a later examination it... Link
It's with a heavy heart that this 15th edition of the Carnival of the NBA comes to you. All our minds are on not the hoops world, but the Gulf Coast. It's the most horrible tragedy of my life by far, and I have to admit my eyes have... Link
Sensible targets for the Lakers would be Golden State guard Derek Fisher, a former Laker who is familiar with Coach Phil Jackson's triangle offense, and high-scoring Toronto Raptor swingman Jalen Rose, although it's not a guarantee that either will be...... Link
There were many smiles on display when two of the three Celtic draft picks, Gerald Green and Ryan Gomes were introduced to the Boston media on Wednesday. Everyone already knew that Celtics' Executive Director of Basketball Operations was excited with his selections on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday he... Link
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. - Andy Dufresne (Shawshank Redemption)One of last season's priorities was to resign Mark Blount. How ironic that one of this season's priorities is to get rid of him. His value is at an... Link
I want to begin by thanking all of you for your support. We had a challenging season and our fans have stayed with us throughout. Our primary goal this year was to establish our philosophy and develop a foundation that we can build on for the future. Our philosophy... Link

Ah, the frustrations of fantasy basketball. Two players who I ve been begging to get more playing time finally get put into situations where they are going to see that time and I miss out on both of them. Bah. Lots and lots of post-deadline PG situations to look... Link
The Suns were the trendsetters. The Warriors followed suit. And now it looks like the Hawks are the latest. (You could even argue that by playing P.J. Brown at center when Jamaal Magloire went out, the Hornets were the second team to do it.) Yes, we soon might have... Link
Not too much to cover with the short week, but here s the rundown nonetheless. The entire Atlantic division is pretty ho-hum when it comes to point guards. You know what to expect from Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Rafer Alston and Stephon Marbury. I can t see... Link
The Warriors have always confused me a little bit. It s a team that always seems to stay the same year after year. Always under .500, but with some exciting players on their roster, who you would expect would bring the team some success. The management in Golden State... Link
Now that we can put football in the rearview (nobody actually cares about football once fantasy is done, right?), we can concentrate on the only fantasy game in town. Assuming you aren t in some ECHL fantasy league, that is. But let s take a small bit of strategy... Link
Don t look now, but the Golden State Warriors are starting to play some good ball. They ve won four of their past six games, coach Montgomery seems to finally be settling on a rotation, and most important to fantasy players, they are scoring some serious points. The team... Link

Over the weekend, the pieces of the Laker puzzle began to take shape...on Friday, Phil Jackson confirmed what many suspected, that he would not return to the team for 2004-2005. The Lakers quickly reacted--contacting Rudy Tomjanovich about the newly-vacated head coach position. But the BIG, backboard-shattering news was that Shaquille O'Neal was demanding a trade, which, if consumated, would be certain to be one of, if not the biggest trade in NBA history. Who could/would take Shaq's $27 mil salary, while also giving the Lakers enough in return? ESPN's Chad Ford and David Aldridge have some possible scenarios....here are a few of the more intriguing and/or plausible:
SCENARIO 1:
DALLAS DIESEL -- Shaq goes to Dallas for Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Walker
SCENARIO 2:
SHAQRAMENTO -- Shaq to the Kings for Chris Webber, Brad Miller, Bobby Jackson, and Anthony Peeler
SCENARIO 3:
THE BIG HOOSIER -- Shaq & Derek Fisher to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal, Al Harrington, Austin Croshere and Scot Pollard
SCENARIO 4:
THE WEST REUNION -- Shaq to Memphis for Pau Gasol, Bonzi Wells (or James Posey), Lorenzen Wright and Bo Outlaw
SCENARIO 5:
THE DADDY AND THE KID -- Shaq & Luke Walton to Cleveland for Carlos Boozer, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Tony Battie, Kedrick Brown, DeSagana Diop and Ira Newble
SCENARIO 6:
THE DADDY AND THE KIDD -- Shaq to New Jersey for Kenyon Martin, Kerry Kittles, and Rodney Rogers
SCENARIO 7:
THE JAILBLAZER ALTERNATIVE -- Shaq to Portland for some combo of Zach Randolph or Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Derek Anderson or Damon Stoudamire, Theo Ratliff or Dale Davis, and a draft pick
